"Is this Key Club?"
Key Club is the Kiwanis organization for service and leadership for high school students. Circle K International (CKI) is the equivalent service organization for college students.
"What is Kiwanis?"
Kiwanis is a global organization dedicated to making impacts in our communities through service and leadership. Kiwanis is home to the largest youth service groups in the world -- groups including Key Club and Circle K International.
"What kind of service projects do you do?"
We hold multiple service events every week focusing on a variety of areas in our community. This year, our service initiatives are:
- food and housing insecurity
- childhood development
- environmental justice
- mental health
"How can I become an active member? Do I have to become an active member?"
You do NOT have to be an active member to come to CKI meetings and participate in CKI events. You do not even have to fill out our non-binding membership form, although it is highly recommended so we can track your hours for you!
If you want to be active, the active member point requirements (semesterly) are:

The purpose of filling out our non-binding membership form is so we can put your name in our system, allowing us to keep track of your hours and recognize you in meetings and other club activities.
Note: Applying for membership is NOT the same as becoming an active member!

"What comes with dues?"
Paying dues provides many benefits such as getting a CKI club t-shirt and a discount on your ticket to the CKI banquet in the Spring.
Being a dues-paid member is also a requirement to be an active member. Paying dues and becoming an active member also gives you a CKI pin, CKI membership card, eligibility to vote in club elections and scholarships, and eligibility to run for a leadership position.

"Can I still be a member if I can't make the meetings?"
Yes, you can absolutely still be a member of CKI and attend CKI events even if you cannot attend meetings. Meeting minutes and other important announcements will be posted on the social media, sent to the email Listserv, and GroupMe announcements chat.
"How can I sign up for events?"
You can sign up for a CKI event on this website by clicking the event's corresponding committee on the "Events" tab and completing the Google Form.
"Is there a GroupMe? Where is the Facebook Group and Page? What is the difference?"
Yes, there is a GroupMe! GroupMe is our main form of communication and we highly recommend joining the GroupMe for the most up-to-date information about upcoming events and announcements.
There is also a Facebook group specifically for members who are in the club, whereas if you're a community member, alumni, family member, or student interested in CKI, the Facebook page is where you would go.

"Why is there a gator riding a unicorn? Why does this website look different every year?"
Every year, the UF CKI club chooses a new theme for the year and undergoes rebranding! We re-theme the website, socials, tabling board, and all recruitment material. We also enjoy theming aspects/projects of our club such as Lock-ins and Meetings.
This year, our theme is "Enchanted Forest" to play along with District's service project theme "Storybook."

"I thought we were the Florida Gators. What's up with the flamingo?"
The mascot for our district is FLACKI the Flamingo!
"Can I get a discount at my local Circle K gas station?"
No, the fuel and food convenience store chain known as 'Circle K' is not affiliated at all with UF CKI or Kiwanis. And besides, our Circle K is the better one.
"What are YOYO HOURS?
YOYO Service (You On Your Own) is service that you can do outside of CKI. You can use volunteering that you do with other organizations to count as service hours, as long as you are not using the same hours to fill two quotas, AKA no double dipping! All you need to do is have proof of volunteering via your supervisor, log sheet, etc. and submit the Google Form under the "YOYO" tab under "Resources" above.
YOYO service gives you a more flexible way to become an active member in UF CKI. We love seeing our members serve our community, no matter what way they choose to do so!
"What's up with the shark?"
The shark you see around the website and at our meetings is Bubbles! He is a piggy bank and a UF CKI philanthropy tradition. At the end of every meeting, we pass around Bubbles and put in a coin to share our happy thoughts. At the end of the year, we donate the money to a charity of the club's choosing.
"I'm an alumni. how can I support the club?"
